Born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa, Jeff has spent over three decades building businesses in Japan. His early career included construction management support for clients such as Universal Studios Japan and Burger King, followed by a stint as President of JR East Group’s first overseas subsidiary, where he led the design / build and operation of an award-winning USDA-compliant organic bento plant in California.
He then founded 3Rock KK, building a strategic consultancy specializing in pharmaceuticals and community healthcare initiatives, before starting Errington KK in January 2026.
Jeff holds a BA from Amherst College, after which he earned a Fulbright Scholarship to study International Relations at the University of Vienna. He later earned an Executive MBA from the University of San Francisco. He has lectured in project management and brand marketing at the Institute of Science Tokyo and Kyushu University.
As a permanent resident married to a Japanese citizen, Jeff founded Errington to address a gap relevant to himself and those around him: the absence of good retirement options for long-time foreign residents and overseas returnees in Japan.
